Before most Lawrenceville families book a dental visit, they ask two questions: what will this cost, and will my plan pay for it? You should get honest answers to both before anyone picks up an instrument. Our front desk verifies your benefits ahead of your first appointment, and Dr. Tan Bui reviews every X-ray and every option with you before treatment begins.
We practice on Laurel Springs Parkway in Suwanee, roughly a 30-minute drive from the historic courthouse square in downtown Lawrenceville. Closer offices exist. Lawrenceville patients still make the trip because the visit runs on clarity: you see your own images on the screen, you hear which problems need attention now and which can wait, and you know what each step costs before you say yes.
What Your First Visit Costs, With or Without Insurance
Your out-of-pocket cost hinges on one detail: the plan printed on your dental card. If you carry one of the PPO plans in our network, preventive benefits typically pay for exams, X-rays and routine cleanings, subject to your deductible, frequency limits and annual maximum. Our team reads those benefits for you, so you never have to decode a summary of coverage on your own.
Without insurance, you have two clear starting points. The $149 new patient visit covers your exam, a review of your X-rays with Dr. Bui and a healthy mouth cleaning with our hygiene team. If a single tooth hurts, or you want to explore dental implants, the $99 focused exam gives you a direct answer and a plan for that one concern. Both offers apply to new patients without dental insurance, and neither combines with insurance benefits.
One detail matters here. A healthy mouth cleaning suits patients without periodontal disease. If Dr. Bui finds infected gum pockets, he shows you the readings, explains the deeper cleaning your gums need and tells you its cost before you commit to anything.
Larger treatment, such as a crown, a root canal or an implant, rarely fits inside one paycheck. Cherry and CareCredit both let you spread the cost across monthly payments. Ask our front desk how each option works, then apply for the one that suits your budget.

The 22 PPO Plans and Select Medicare Plans in Our Network
We participate with 22 PPO dental plans: Delta Dental, Cigna PPO Standard and PPO Total, MetLife PDP Plus, Aetna, Guardian, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare PPO, United Concordia FEP and PPO, Humana, Ameritas PPO, Sun Life PPO, GEHA FEDVIP, Lincoln PPO, Renaissance PPO, DenteMax PPO, Beam PPO, Mutual of Omaha PPO, Unum PPO, Aflac Connection Dental, TruAssure, 90 Degree and Freedom Life.
If you work for a federal agency, your GEHA FEDVIP or United Concordia FEP coverage works here too. For Medicare members, we accept select plans from Aetna, United Healthcare PPO, United Concordia and Humana. If you help a parent or grandparent in Lawrenceville manage appointments, call with the plan name and member ID, and we will tell you where that plan stands.
Three coverage types do not work at our office: HMO or DHMO plans, discount or savings plans, and Cigna Advantage. If your card says HMO, you can still come in as a self-pay patient and compare that price against your assigned office.
When you phone your plan to confirm, give them our practice name, B-You! Dentistry, along with Dr. Tan Bui's name and our address at 5355 Laurel Springs Pkwy, Suwanee, GA 30024.
What a Comprehensive Exam Actually Includes
A first exam here covers far more ground than a quick look and a polish. Each step answers a specific clinical question.
Digital X-rays come first. They reveal decay between teeth, bone levels around each root and infection at the tip of a root, none of which you can spot in a bathroom mirror. The sensor produces an image within seconds, so Dr. Bui can pull it up on the screen while you sit in the chair.
Next, an intraoral camera photographs cracks, worn fillings and chipped edges at close range. You see the exact image Dr. Bui sees, which makes any recommendation easier to judge for yourself.
Your hygienist then measures the pocket between each tooth and the gum. Shallow readings mean healthy tissue. Deeper readings signal periodontal disease, which changes the type of cleaning you need and how often you should come in.
Some cases call for 3D cone beam imaging. Dr. Bui uses this scan to plan dental implants and to examine a tooth whose root problem a flat X-ray cannot fully show. It maps bone volume and nerve position in three dimensions, which takes guesswork out of surgical planning.
Once the exam wraps up, Dr. Bui sorts his findings into three groups: care you need now, care that can safely wait and areas he simply wants to watch. Each group comes with his reasoning and the cost of every option, so you can weigh treatment against your benefits for the year.
How a Visit Unfolds, From Check-In to Checkout
Plan on a longer first appointment than a routine six-month cleaning, since the exam and imaging take time.
You start at the front desk, where our team confirms your benefits and answers billing questions. A complimentary drink, sunglasses for the overhead light and lip balm wait for you in the chair. Your hygienist cleans your teeth, then Dr. Bui joins you to review the images and talk through what he found.
Feeling anxious? Say so at any point. Laughing gas takes the edge off during treatment and wears off within minutes, and oral sedation offers deeper relaxation for longer procedures. With oral sedation, plan for a friend or relative to drive you home.
Nobody schedules treatment until you decide. Take the plan home, compare it with your benefits and call back when you feel ready.
After a cleaning, your teeth may feel slightly sensitive for a day, especially if you had heavy tartar buildup. After a filling, the numbness fades over a few hours; chew on the other side until it does. When a tooth needs a crown, Dr. Bui places a temporary first, and you return for the permanent crown once the dental lab finishes it.
Before you leave, our team books your next cleaning. Many PPO plans reset their annual maximum on January 1, so a fall appointment helps you use benefits before they expire.

Is This Office the Right Fit for Your Household?
This practice suits adults, teens and children 9 and up who feel comfortable in the dental chair. Parents in Collins Hill and downtown Lawrenceville can book back-to-back visits with older kids, which saves a second trip across the county.
It also suits Gwinnett's multilingual households. Team members speak English, Vietnamese and Spanish, so you can talk through a treatment plan or a bill in the language you prefer.
People who avoided dental care for years, patients weighing implants or dentures and anyone with a toothache that cannot wait until next week also fit well here. We hold time for same-day problems such as broken teeth and lost crowns.
A few situations call for a different office. Children under 9, or younger kids who need a pediatric setting, do better with a pediatric dental practice. HMO and discount plan members will pay more out of pocket here than at an in-network HMO office. If you want a crown made and placed in a single sitting, we do not offer same-day crowns; ours go through a dental lab and take more than one visit. And if Thursday is your only free day, note that the office closes on Thursdays.
Meet Dr. Tan Bui
When Dr. Bui opened B-You! Dentistry, he built it around a simple standard: treat every patient like family. For a Lawrenceville patient watching a budget, that standard shows up in specific ways. He tells you which treatment can wait. He explains the less expensive option alongside the longer-lasting one. He answers questions until you run out of them.
Patients describe him the same way in review after review: unhurried, thorough and willing to show you exactly what he sees. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry, and he completes about 25 hours of continuing education each year.
Dr. Bui is also a United States Marine Corps veteran. You can read more about his training and approach on his profile page.
Driving From Lawrenceville to Laurel Springs
From downtown Lawrenceville, follow Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road (GA-317) northwest, across I-85 and past Suwanee Town Center Park at Buford Highway. Keep heading west across Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, then let your GPS guide you the last few miles to Peachtree Parkway (GA-141). Turn onto Laurel Springs Parkway at The Shops at Laurel Springs, the Publix shopping center, and look for our office across the parkway from CVS.
Free parking sits right outside the door. Students heading up from Georgia Gwinnett College can use the same route, since the campus sits near GA-316 on the south side of town. Saturday morning visits skip the weekday rush on GA-317.

Lawrenceville Questions, Answered
Closer offices exist in Lawrenceville. Why would I drive to Laurel Springs?
You drive here for a visit where you see your X-rays, hear every option and know the cost before treatment starts. Patients tell us they never felt rushed. If a 30-minute drive does not work for routine cleanings, we would rather you find a closer office you trust than skip care.
My employer in Gwinnett offers a PPO. How do I know if it works here?
Call us with your plan name and member ID, and our team checks your network status and benefits before your visit. We participate with 22 PPO plans, so most major carriers appear on our list. You can also call your plan and give them our practice name, Dr. Bui's name and our Suwanee address.
I attend Georgia Gwinnett College and have no dental insurance. What does a first visit cost?
The $149 new patient visit covers your exam, an X-ray review with Dr. Bui and a healthy mouth cleaning. If one tooth bothers you, start with the $99 focused exam instead. Cherry and CareCredit financing can spread out the cost of any treatment you need afterward.
My mother in Lawrenceville has a Medicare Advantage plan. Will it cover visits here?
We accept select Medicare plans from Aetna, United Healthcare PPO, United Concordia and Humana. We do not accept Cigna Advantage. Call with her plan name and member ID, and our team will confirm her dental benefits before you book.
Our family dental plan is a DHMO. Can we still come to your office?
Your DHMO will not pay for visits here, since we do not accept HMO, DHMO or discount plans. You can still come in as a self-pay patient. Ask our front desk which pricing applies to your family before you book.
