An implant has three parts: a small titanium post that replaces the tooth root, a connector (abutment), and a custom crown that matches your surrounding teeth. Because the post fuses with your jawbone, the implant is stable on its own β it does not rely on neighboring teeth the way a bridge does, and it helps preserve the bone that a missing root would otherwise lose.
Implants can replace: a single missing tooth; several teeth in a row (including implant-supported bridges); a full arch, by supporting a
denture that snaps firmly into place.
